As a Technical Principal at Version 1, you will engage directly with our foremost clients in the government and financial sectors, collaborating to address their most intricate digital challenges. You will employ critical thinking to dissect issues and devise practical solutions, emphasizing performance, scalability, security, and resilience from the outset. Your week may begin by evaluating a technical strategy for a significant government department, followed by working with a project team to navigate integration hurdles on a live service, and concluding with presenting your solution to a client's senior leadership team.
Your extensive experience in building and deploying enterprise-scale digital services enables you to provide credible advice on effective practices, leveraging systems thinking to comprehend how technical decisions interconnect across the broader service and business landscape. This could involve designing microservices architectures on AWS or Azure, assisting a bank in modernizing its data platform while adhering to stringent security requirements, or collaborating with a delivery team to revitalize a struggling project by identifying risks and modifying the approach. You will consistently bring strategic insight and hands-on expertise to every scenario.
In this role, you will collaborate with diverse teams, including user researchers, product managers, software engineers, and business stakeholders, adopting a stakeholder-centric approach to balance various perspectives and needs while considering the commercial context. A portion of your responsibilities will involve business development—engaging potential clients, crafting technical proposals that include sizing and estimation work, and contributing to winning new business that fosters growth across your accounts. You will need to adeptly manage priorities across multiple engagements, often under tight deadlines.
