About the Role
As part of our Safeguards Engineering team, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that ensures the safety of Anthropic's AI systems in live environments. This includes managing classifiers, detection pipelines, evaluation platforms, and monitoring systems that connect our AI models to the real world. The reliability of this infrastructure is critical; when safety-critical systems fail or degrade, the implications can be severe and often go unnoticed until investigated.
In your capacity as a Technical Program Manager for Safeguards Infrastructure and Evaluations, you will be responsible for the operational health and continuous improvement of this framework. Your primary focus will be on driving reliability — managing incident response processes, conducting post-mortems, ensuring Service Level Objectives (SLOs) are established and met in collaboration with various teams, and making certain that when issues arise, the appropriate stakeholders are informed and corrective actions are executed. Alongside these operational responsibilities, you will oversee significant platform investments, such as data migrations, enhancements to evaluation platforms, and the cross-team dependencies that facilitate these efforts.
This position is positioned at the intersection of operations and program management, demanding substantial technical expertise. You should possess a comprehensive understanding of how these systems function to effectively triage issues, prioritize safety-critical tasks over less urgent ones, and engage in informed discussions with the engineering teams responsible for their development and maintenance. Ultimately, your role is essential to ensuring smooth operations and progress within our Safeguards Engineering team.
