AECOM is looking for a skilled Transport Planner to become part of our Newcastle team. In this role, you will assist in the execution of transport planning projects for both public and private sector clients. Your contributions will involve conducting technical analyses, evaluating transport options, and preparing comprehensive reports and presentations, all while collaborating closely with colleagues in multi-disciplinary teams under the mentorship of senior staff.
The Newcastle transport planning team is at the forefront of significant and high-impact transport initiatives in the North East, including the development of business cases for major rail projects like the Northumberland Line and the ongoing feasibility study for the Leamside Line. Our team collaborates with the North East Combined Authority, local councils, and National Highways on a diverse portfolio of rail, bus, highway, and active travel projects, applying expert transport planning and technical analysis to support project development and funding decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:
Technical Delivery
- Assist in the execution of transport planning projects, including data analysis, option development, assessment, modeling, and reporting.
- Prepare technical documentation to support transport studies, scheme development, and investment decisions.
- Contribute to technical analysis and data gathering, including transport modeling and forecasting, under the guidance of senior team members.
- Ensure compliance with relevant guidelines, project requirements, and quality standards in all work.
Project Management
- Facilitate day-to-day project operations by coordinating tasks, tracking progress, and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
- Assist senior staff in meeting project deadlines and delivering high-quality outputs.
- Help prepare reports, presentations, and essential technical documents.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support client meetings, workshops, and consultations by preparing technical inputs and presentation materials.
- Effectively communicate technical information within the project team and, where appropriate, to external stakeholders.
