Timmons Group is excited to welcome a Transportation Construction Engineer to our Infrastructure Transportation Group at our Richmond, VA office. In this pivotal role, you will supervise the construction phase of our projects, ensuring all contractual obligations are met following the approval of our design teams.
Your responsibilities will encompass managing projects that may involve intricate political or environmental considerations, including coordination with property owners, local utility companies, and governmental agencies at both county and state levels. You will work closely with the Timmons Group Project Manager as the project transitions from the design phase to bidding and through to construction.
As a Construction Engineer, you will be tasked with overseeing all project documentation, which includes but is not limited to: Bidding Documents, Payment Requisition Recommendations, Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Orders (COs), Potential Change Orders (PCOs), Submittals, Daily Work Reports (DWRs), Punch Lists, Project Closeout Letters, Bond Releases, Meeting Minutes, Monthly Progress Reports, Loan Draws, Escrow Fund Releases, Material Inspection Reports, and correspondence with various governmental bodies.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Effective and timely communication with clients, project stakeholders, project managers, inspectors, and contractors.
- Developing construction contract documents to facilitate project bidding and negotiations with contractors.
- Maintaining and reviewing all project documentation such as RFIs, material submittals, as-built plans, contractor pay requisitions, and change orders.
- Conducting and facilitating pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and other relevant project meetings with owners, contractors, subcontractors, and government agencies.
- Resolving on-site construction issues through regular communication with owners, contractors, the public, utility companies, engineers, and jurisdictional agencies.
- Preparing field directives and sketches for contractors as needed.
- Updating the Timmons Group Project Manager regarding project progress and seeking guidance on key issues.
- Reviewing project plans for constructability pre-bid and suggesting enhancements.
- Analyzing bid tabulations and making award recommendations to owners.
- Visiting construction sites to document significant observations.
- Performing cost estimating and reviewing contractor pricing.
- Building and reviewing construction schedules proposed by contractors.
