Our externship program offers DVM students invaluable off-campus learning experiences that complement their academic training. Engage in practical, hands-on activities in a contemporary practice setting, preparing you for a successful transition into the veterinary field after graduation.
Program Overview:
Our externship opportunities are designed to be flexible, ranging from two to eight weeks to align with your academic schedule. Typically, externships are two to three weeks in duration, incorporating a mix of days, evenings, and weekends.
During your externship, you will work closely with our skilled veterinary team, applying your problem-solving, technical, and communication skills in real-world scenarios. You will participate in patient care and gain firsthand experience in managing a diverse caseload, all under the guidance of a mentor veterinarian. A stipend of $250 per week will be provided.
Your Responsibilities:
As an extern, you will have the opportunity to:
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Assist with surgeries and manage medical cases.
- Provide wellness care and improve client communication skills.
- Maintain accurate medical records (SOAPs) in a timely manner.

It is essential for externs to familiarize themselves with the Veterinary Practice Act regarding permissible duties and the required level of veterinary supervision to ensure compliance and safety.
