PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
Ensure the technical integrity of all telecommunications systems, including Data networks (WANs, LANs, MANs, and low-speed data), voice networks (PBX, voicemail, conference bridges, and radio networks across PTP, MAS, VHF, and UHF), video conferencing systems, and problem resolution for IXC, LEC, and CLEC. This position demands a high level of technical expertise across various infrastructure areas, including installation, scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting of all telecommunications equipment and networks within the designated geographical area. The Voice and Data Engineer will lead various initiatives and serve as a primary interface for customers in the IT process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, maintain, repair, and operate infrastructure within the network, including:
- Local Area Network equipment
- Wide Area Network equipment & circuits
- Telephone systems: PBX, hybrid key systems, and non-KSU systems
- Voice processing and computerized telephone technology
- Microwave radio equipment
- VHF/UHF radio equipment, mobile cellular phones, and paging systems
- Video teleconferencing equipment
- Fiber optic cable systems
- UPS systems/AC and DC systems
- Other electronic equipment as required
- Act as PBX and voicemail administrator
- Collaborate with telephone companies and internal teams to install and repair telephone circuits
- Coordinate telecommunications capital projects
- Ensure microwave and radio systems adhere to FCC guidelines
- Provide first-level client PC support
- Deliver electronic technical support to engineering and other departments
- Assist in operating and repairing company SCADA and measurement systems
- Work with Central Network personnel to configure routers, hubs, and channel banks
- Construct infrastructure cabling systems using both fiber and metallic mediums.
