Role Overview

We are excited to welcome a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Optical Technician to our dynamic team. In this position, you will play a vital role in the assembly, alignment, testing, and upkeep of optical and optomechanical systems utilized in our telescope platforms. You will collaborate closely with optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers to ensure the production of high-performance imaging systems that meet our rigorous standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, align, and integrate optical and optomechanical components, including but not limited to lenses, mirrors, sensors, and fiber-optic systems.

  • Assist in setting up and conducting optical tests, calibrations, and performance verification procedures.

  • Help troubleshoot optical systems and identify the root causes of performance discrepancies.

  • Adhere to detailed work instructions, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation to construct precision systems.

  • Keep meticulous records of builds, test outcomes, and system configurations.

  • Assist with prototype builds and support iterative development cycles in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to provide insights on assembly processes, tolerances, and potential design enhancements.

  • Manage inventory of optical components, tools, and laboratory equipment effectively.

  • Support manufacturing and integration teams in assembly, testing, and quality control initiatives.

  • Communicate efficiently with team members to ensure alignment on project specifications and deadlines.
