Join Our Team at AoPS Academy as a Language Arts Instructor!
Are you enthusiastic about language arts and eager to ignite a passion for reading and writing in students? At AoPS Academy, we are looking for a dedicated Language Arts Instructor to inspire young learners in a dynamic and collaborative classroom environment.
Responsibilities of the Part-Time Instructor Include:
- Delivering an Engaging Curriculum: Utilize our specially designed curriculum and materials to teach advanced students in small language arts classes.
- Engaging Students: Foster active participation and student-led learning in every class.
- Classroom Management: Effectively manage a classroom of up to 16 students.
- Grading and Feedback: Assess student tests and assignments, providing constructive feedback.
- Building Relationships: Connect with students and their families to make a lasting impact on their educational journey.
- Inspiring Learning: Encourage a love for learning and critical thinking in language arts.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Preference for a degree in education or a humanities field.
- Strong knowledge in reading, writing, and grammar.
- Classroom teaching experience at the K-12 level is preferred.
- Experience in teaching or tutoring students.
Note: A formal teaching credential is not required for this position.
Schedule (Academic Year):
- Classes are held in the evenings and on weekends. Instructors must be available to teach during weekday after-school hours (starting as early as 4 PM) and/or on weekends.
- A minimum commitment of about 3 hours per week is required for each assigned class.
- Each course meets weekly for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Summer Schedule:
- During summer, we offer multiple two-week camps from June to August.
- Camp classes are held Monday to Friday for 3 hours a day, with both morning and afternoon sessions.
Location:
- This is an in-person position at our Pasadena location. Candidates must reside in Pasadena, CA or the surrounding areas.
