Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a recent PhD or possess a BS/MS degree with 1-5 years of relevant industrial experience in Physics, Applied Physics, Laser Optics, Mechanical Engineering, or Material Science, specifically in the development and optimization of laser-based or assisted processes in material processing or micromachining. Specific qualifications include:Strong understanding of the fundamentals of optical physics and their application in laser materials processing. Knowledge of laser-material interaction principles. Experience in laser micromachining applications, such as ablation, surface structuring, and multi-photon absorption. Proficient hands-on skills in designing and executing experiments, as well as analyzing results. Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE), data collection, and data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, SQL, MATLAB, Python). A collaborative spirit to thrive in an interdisciplinary team environment, working alongside mechanical engineers and materials experts.
