Role Overview: Lead Building Engineer for Data Center Operations
Location: Austin, Texas
The Lead Building Engineer for Data Centers plays a central role in keeping all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems running at peak efficiency to ensure 100% uptime. This position is the primary point of accountability for data center facility operations, responsible for preventative maintenance, corrective actions, and emergency response.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day facility operations within the data center, ensuring all critical systems remain fully functional.
- Supervise a team of Critical Facilities Engineers (CFEs), including work order management, training, event coordination, and performance oversight.
- Act as the main technical resource for onsite Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) and third-party vendors.
- Direct maintenance and operational strategies, including Method of Procedures (MOP) development, testing protocols, spare parts management, capital planning, and equipment lifecycle planning.
- Lead and participate in technical work as needed, maintaining a hands-on approach to facility operations.
- Communicate with customers and internal teams to coordinate activities and address operational needs.
