Resource Innovations is seeking a Lead Java Software Engineer for its SaaS team. This is a remote role, though candidates based in metro areas like Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City, or Madison may occasionally be asked to attend in-person meetings.
This position blends hands-on technical leadership with active software development. The Lead Java Software Engineer will architect, build, and deploy cloud-based enterprise applications used by major energy organizations. The work supports Resource Innovations’ mission to advance clean energy solutions and help utilities address challenges such as load flexibility, electrification, and carbon reduction.
What you will do
- Software development: Lead and contribute to the full software development life cycle for cloud-based enterprise applications, covering design, coding, testing, deployment, and support.
- Technical design and architecture: Design and build cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks. Work with REST and SOAP web services, API Gateways, and relational databases to deliver scalable and secure systems.
- Code quality and review: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Conduct code reviews, provide feedback, and help raise development standards across the team.
- Troubleshooting and optimization: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, including production support and performance tuning, to improve scalability and reliability.
- Collaboration and process: Work closely with QA, DevOps, Product, and Business teams. Use Agile practices and tools such as Scrum, Jira, Confluence, and Git to deliver software on schedule.
- Continuous improvement: Stay up to date with new technologies, including AI-assisted development, and recommend improvements to tools, frameworks, and engineering processes.
