AECOM is looking for a dynamic and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio. In this pivotal role, you will oversee mechanical system designs for high-performance buildings across various sectors, including Corporate Workplace, Commercial, Federal Civilian, DoD, Healthcare, Mission Critical, Justice, Logistics, and Higher Education.
As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will work autonomously, ensuring that both small and large projects meet design specifications. You will lead the technical aspects of projects involving new constructions and the renovation of existing buildings. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, critical thinking abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical system design, including HVAC and plumbing, while mentoring junior engineers in their professional development.
Collaborate with senior leadership on proposal preparation, generate reports based on findings, and work with various teams to fulfill the company’s objectives.
Ensure project plans align with the overall team scope and schedule, while staying updated on relevant codes and technologies.
Manage the engineering design process from concept to construction administration, conducting research and specifying mechanical systems, equipment, and materials.
Conduct site visits to assess and collect data on mechanical systems and components.
Deliver engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specifications and applicable codes, while reviewing junior engineers' work for quality assurance.
Coordinate across multiple disciplines, acting as the lead mechanical engineer to ensure projects adhere to budgets and schedules, while overseeing the mechanical team.
Ensure compliance with standards, design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and approve shop drawings, and actively participate in client meetings during the construction phase.
Guide and mentor junior engineering staff, fostering their skill development and professional growth.
Assess team members' technical capabilities and provide constructive feedback to address any skill gaps.
Develop personalized training plans to enhance team proficiency.
