Experience RequirementsEssential:A minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience. Proven ability to produce robust technical justifications for design modifications. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards. Familiarity with recognized industry technical guidance. Experience in multi-disciplinary projects providing electrical engineering insights. Desirable:Experience in designing electrical control and instrumentation systems. Previous experience in a high-hazard environment is advantageous but not required. Experience applying theoretical and practical engineering methods across various processes in nuclear or similar high-risk industries.

We are seeking a dynamic Principal Electrical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team at Assystem in Glasgow. In this pivotal role, you will support ongoing operations and future projects within the Approval Authority, focusing on nuclear facilities and delivering exceptional services across various client sites.

As part of a collaborative team of Mechanical, Civil, Building Services, and Electrical Engineers, you will play an essential role in the authorship, development, assessment, and maintenance of Engineering Design Substantiation for Clyde Nuclear Facilities. You will ensure that Design Intent, Critical Safety Factors, and Safety and Operational Requirements align with industry best practices and comply with legislative and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage Nuclear Infrastructure Design Substantiation documentation.
  • Oversee design changes and concessions.
  • Present Clyde Design substantiations to nuclear safety committees following Clyde's Due Process.
  • Create and maintain Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules and operational procedures to meet safety and design requirements.
  • Contribute to the Periodic Review of Safety reports.
  • Advise and direct internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Conduct Independent Technical Reviews (ITA) and Independent Peer Reviews (IPR).
  • Utilize both general and specialized engineering knowledge to leverage new and existing technologies.
  • Implement theoretical and practical methods for engineering processes in a high-risk nuclear environment.
  • Provide comprehensive technical justifications for electrical design modifications in high hazard settings.
  • Review technical reports and safety case submissions from external contractors.
  • Verify calculations and technical documents prepared by team members.
