Qualifications:A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Substantial experience in the design and integration of power generation and distribution systems. Deep understanding of HV and LV systems within marine or naval platforms. Familiarity with naval/maritime codes, standards, and regulations. Experience with energy management and sustainable technologies. Chartered Engineer status or actively pursuing it. Outstanding leadership and communication skills.

The Opportunity

In your role as a Lead Principal Electrical Engineer, you will provide essential technical leadership from the initial concept through to build and in-service support. Operating within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment, your focus will be on ensuring that electrical systems comply with rigorous performance, safety, and regulatory standards while spearheading innovations in energy management, sustainability, and emerging technologies.

This leadership position allows you to mentor fellow engineers, interact with critical stakeholders, and play a vital role in developing next-generation naval platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, integration, and optimization of electrical systems for naval and governmental vessels.
  • Develop and specify power generation and distribution systems (both HV & LV).
  • Implement robust energy management strategies that enhance efficiency and minimize emissions.
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines to ensure smooth system integration.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Engage with clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Champion innovation in alternative power sources, future fuels, autonomy, and digital systems.
  • Support projects through build and throughout the vessel lifecycle.
