About the job

About Our Team:

The STR Sensors Division is dedicated to pioneering advanced sensor systems, concentrating on airborne and surface radar, space-based sensing, electronic warfare, and underwater acoustics. This role is situated within the Space Missions and Sensing (SMS) Sector of the Sensors Division, where we are committed to advancing technology for space-based sensing, space control, and counter-sensing missions.

Your Role:

We are looking for an RF System Engineer to spearhead small teams in designing, developing, integrating, and testing innovative sensing and counter-sensing systems for radar, electronic warfare, and signal processing. This role presents outstanding opportunities for professional advancement in a dynamic and rapidly growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and collaborate with small, multi-disciplinary teams to design, construct, and evaluate RF hardware systems, primarily focusing on field-deployable prototypes aiming for transition to low-volume production.
  • Define and quantify project goals, performance objectives, metrics, dependencies, and risks to steer your efforts effectively.
  • Oversee the design of RF hardware systems, directing team members in creating schematics, selecting components, and drafting specifications for items such as antennas, positioners, cables, transceiver assemblies, amplifiers, and filters.
  • Guide the integration and testing of complete RF systems, including antennas, feeds, waveguides, positioners, processing hardware, and the software responsible for system control, waveform processing, calibration, health and status monitoring, and user interface.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software/firmware developers, systems engineers, and test engineers to troubleshoot, identify, and resolve technical challenges.
  • Conduct performance trade studies and analyses of proposed hardware architectures, collaborating with Systems Engineers and team leads to derive, develop, and verify requirements.
  • Develop component and system test plans, leading testing initiatives to verify system compliance with requirements and documenting performance results.
  • Perform over-the-air system demonstrations, assessing hardware readiness, test architecture, performance metrics, data management, operational procedures, and generating performance reports.
  • Partner with the signal processing team to create test concepts and methodologies.
