The Ground & Control team is on the lookout for a passionate and driven Software Engineer to join us in developing autonomous software that governs and monitors BlackSky's satellite constellation. This role encompasses high-speed tasking, ground and space telemetry, health monitoring, and low-latency communication with global ground stations. You will be instrumental in creating software that connects hardware-level interfaces with cloud-based microservices, contributing to mission-critical systems that ensure the safety, responsiveness, and efficiency of our satellites, operating 24/7 with minimal human intervention.

To excel in this role, you should possess a strong sense of initiative and ownership, a deep curiosity about complex systems, and the discipline to trace and validate requirements while constructively challenging them when necessary. You must appreciate the significance of safety, precision, and testability, especially in autonomous systems where even minor errors can lead to significant consequences. Familiarity with modern software development practices and the ability to navigate both low-level and cloud-based technologies are essential. Above all, you should be adept at collaboration, clear communication, and contributing towards a shared mission with humility and focus. While we prefer candidates near our Seattle, WA office, we are open to considering remote candidates in select states.
