To excel in this role, you should possess:In-depth experience with AWS or other cloud platforms such as Azure or Google Cloud, along with proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code toolsExtensive knowledge of the Kubernetes ecosystem (e.g., Cilium, Istio, Knative, Keda)Experience in mentoring junior engineers and steering projects towards impactful outcomesA proven ability to review architecture and designs from team members, pinpointing issues and recommending best practicesFamiliarity with conducting code reviews, focusing on elegance, performance, maintainability, and securityUnderstanding of DevOps, Release Engineering, and trends including CI/CDExperience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform)Knowledge of networking and information security in the cloud (e.g., VPN, compliance)A commitment to keeping automated infrastructure current as dependent technologies evolve and scaleA passion for automating our entire development lifecycle and contributing to our pursuit of continuous delivery

As a Lead Software Engineer within our Foundational Infrastructure Group, you will play a pivotal role in re-architecting our platform for public cloud environments, enabling swift, reliable, and impactful changes. Your mission is to maintain our top-tier infrastructure, ensuring it is consistently available, responsive, and equipped to meet the diverse demands of a dynamic, high-performance development team. Collaborating within an agile, global team, you'll help transition our systems to a modern services architecture that facilitates the integration of microservices and containerization technologies.

This position is based in our headquarters in McLean, VA. At Appian, we foster a culture of in-person collaboration, which we believe is essential to our mission of excellence.
