About the job
The Lead Structural Design Engineer will spearhead and oversee all structural engineering tasks for the Offshore Project at the Umm Shaif Super Complex (USSC). This pivotal role guarantees structural integrity, constructability, and compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards for the installation of new equipment, skids, pipe supports, and modifications on existing live offshore structures. The engineer will collaborate with Engineering Subcontractors, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Marine teams, and ADNOC Offshore Engineering & Operations throughout the project phases from Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) to Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), installation, and commissioning.
Structural Discipline Technical Authority (Owner’s Engineer)
Acting as the principal authority for all structural engineering matters related to IA/PA upgrades, this role ensures strict compliance with:
- ADNOC Structural Engineering Standards
- ISO, API RP2A, AISC, BS, and relevant offshore structural codes
- ADNOC offshore brownfield requirements
- Project Basis of Design and FEED integrity
- Structural integrity and safety standards for all equipment packages
- Provide definitive oversight and final approval on structural discipline issues
Structural Integration of Package Equipment
Lead the structural governance for integrating:
- Instrument Air Compressors
- Plant Air Compressors
- Twin Tower Dryers
- IA/PA Air Receivers
- Associated skid structures and platforms
- Lifting frames, base frames, and support steel
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify skid loading and static & dynamic reactions
- Assess structural adequacy of supporting platforms
- Validate vendor structural details (Center of Gravity, weights, loads)
- Review equipment baseplates and foundation pad/skid supports
- Ensure compliance with offshore environmental load conditions
- Approve requirements for structural reinforcements
Brownfield Structural Assessment & Tie-In Engineering
Conducting brownfield engineering is essential for ADNOC platforms.
Lead tasks include:
- Evaluating existing deck load capacity
- Reviewing as-built drawings, laser scans, and survey data
- Identifying reinforcement requirements for increased loads
- Assessing spatial constraints and structural conflicts
- Ensuring safe access and maintenance clearances
- Reviewing EPC brownfield method statements
- Verifying tie-in locations for new supports and routing
- Confirming deck rating suitability for compressors/dryers
- Facilitate safe brownfield execution under SIMOPS and offshore constraints.
Structural Analysis Review & Verification
Review structural analyses conducted by EPC contractors, including:
- Global and local Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Deck load and punching shear evaluations
- Fatigue analysis (as applicable)
- Vibration assessments for rotating machinery
