This pivotal role involves defining a visionary testing framework, designing scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks, and empowering teams to deliver reliable, secure, observable, and high-performance software swiftly. You will provide technical leadership and guidance to both local and remote testing teams while collaborating closely with development, product management, and QA teams to integrate quality throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and advocate for the adoption of modern engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Strategy & Architecture
Continuously define and enhance enterprise-wide testing architecture, patterns, and best practices for all Catalyx software products.
Develop a comprehensive testing strategy encompassing functional, non-functional, regression, performance, security, accessibility, and reliability testing.
Create and maintain testing blueprints, standards, frameworks, and tools to ensure consistency across teams and alignment with product roadmaps.
Establish standards for test triaging, levels, test data management, environments, and automation controls.
Shape the long-term automation strategy, including CI/CD integration and tool selection.
Eliminate inconsistent testing practices, fragmented approaches, and duplicated efforts across teams.
Define “meaningful coverage” and establish quality benchmarks prioritizing reliability, business value, and risk-based testing.
Lead initiatives to identify and mitigate test bloat, consolidating redundant or low-value tests while ensuring critical coverage is maintained.
Promote a shift-left approach, ensuring testability considerations are integrated early in design and development discussions.
Test Framework & Tooling Ownership
Standardize tooling and interoperability across all Catalyx software products and technology stacks.
Design scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, and microservices applications.
Evaluate and implement new testing technologies and tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, K6, JMeter, and Postman.
Ensure automation is seamlessly integrated into DevOps pipelines to support continuous testing.
Mentor and coach test engineers, developers in test, and automation specialists.
Oversee daily operations of both local and remote test teams, ensuring clear task ownership, equitable workload distribution, and alignment with sprint, release, and milestone targets.
