About the job

AECOM is looking for a talented Licensed Architect specializing in the design and execution of colocation and hyperscale cloud data center facilities. The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing intricate, mission-critical projects from inception to completion. This pivotal role involves crafting the architectural framework for high-performance, secure, and scalable data center environments tailored to the needs of premier cloud and colocation clients.

This role offers flexibility with a remote work arrangement, allowing candidates to be based from various locations across the U. S. where AECOM maintains offices.

While primarily remote, the position may require occasional travel for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other essential business activities. Such travel will be planned in advance.

AECOM stands as a leader in the global data center consulting sector, with robust teams across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. In this position, you will collaborate with our international teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects for global clients, and enjoy a hands-on, client-facing role that presents opportunities for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead architectural design for large-scale hyperscale cloud data center and colocation projects, guiding them from initial concept through construction administration and final closeout.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, construction personnel, and external stakeholders to create fully coordinated and integrated design solutions.
  • Develop and review technical drawings, specifications, and documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client design guidelines.
  • Work alongside consultants, contractors, and permitting entities to facilitate project delivery and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Act as the architectural expert for hyperscale and colocation clients, ensuring designs promote operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Mentor junior architects and designers, encouraging technical excellence and innovative design approaches.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and trends in data center design.
  • Assist in business development efforts, proposal writing, and preliminary architectural designs for new projects.
