Qualifications
Proven experience in designing, building, and managing advanced data centers, including site selection, capacity planning, power infrastructure (e.g., PDUs, UPS, generators), and advanced cooling systems (e.g., liquid cooling, CRAC/CRAH). Expertise in maintaining 99.999% uptime in mission-critical environments through core facilities services, such as HVAC optimization, redundant power systems, fire suppression, and environmental monitoring. Ability to build and nurture a high-performance team focusing on enterprise infrastructure, including virtualization solutions (VMware/Hyper-V), high-performance storage (NAS/SAN/object), and dedicated servers optimized for HPC and AI workloads. Experience in implementing high-availability architectures, disaster recovery strategies, and resilience testing, encompassing multi-site failover and automated recovery. Proficiency in mentoring engineers in the design, procurement, and deployment of performance-optimized server fleets, establishing hardware standards, negotiating with vendors (e.g., Dell, HPE, Supermicro), and ensuring scalability for SpaceX's extensive compute needs. Hands-on experience with data center installations, configurations, cabling, and commissioning; capable of performing rack-and-stack, BIOS/firmware tuning, and integration testing as necessary. Experience in implementing infrastructure-as-code, automation, and comprehensive monitoring (e.g., DCIM tools like Schneider EcoStruxure or Nlyte) for proactive operations in automated, environmentally friendly data centers. Ability to schedule and manage off-peak maintenance, upgrades, and expansions, including high-risk downtimes, while maintaining 24/7 on-call readiness.
