This Manufacturing Engineer position supports Starship Components Operations at SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA. The team develops and builds the factory systems behind critical flow control devices and mechanisms for Starship and Super Heavy, including regulators, butterfly valves, and flap or fin actuators. These components play a key role in vehicle function. The group’s scope covers factory expansion, process flow, machine moves, and project planning, all in support of SpaceX’s long-term mission.
Role overview
This role centers on designing and managing production and factory layouts, with an emphasis on clear visual indicators and efficient material movement. The work environment is hands-on, with direct involvement in factory operations and collaboration with production teams.
What you will do
- Design and oversee factory and production layouts to improve material flow and visual management.
- Visit vendor sites, negotiate pricing, and monitor project progress to keep schedules on track.
- Evaluate production lines, identify opportunities for simplification, and implement improvements.
- Lead complex projects, delivering results quickly and managing costs.
- Work directly with production teams to see projects through to completion.
- Champion system and process improvements across production groups.
- Develop and use analytical tools to assess delivery, capacity, and cost for data-driven decision making.
