Summary

Amprius is on the lookout for a dedicated Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to take the lead in managing the technical lifecycle of our production and R&D equipment. In this pivotal role, reporting to the Senior Manager of Facilities and EHS, you will oversee equipment readiness, installation, and provide ongoing support for our pilot line. You will be the go-to internal expert, collaborating with OEMs and engineers to ensure our systems are meticulously documented, maintained, and optimized for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure equipment readiness for production and R&D, with a particular emphasis on pilot line installation, startup, and stable operations.
  • Engage in design review meetings with OEM and internal teams post-supplier selection to gain a comprehensive understanding of equipment operation, controls, interfaces, and support requirements.
  • Examine equipment layouts, utility matrices, exhaust and abatement requirements, interlocks, safety protocols, commissioning plans, and punch list items to facilitate successful installations and startups.
  • Assist in equipment installation, SAT, startup, and seamless transition into daily operations.
  • Identify and communicate facility, utility, maintenance, and technical support needs prior to equipment startup to enhance execution, reduce risks, and improve overall readiness.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth technical understanding of assigned equipment, including operational standards, controls architecture, failure modes, utility requirements, and maintenance necessities.
  • Create and uphold structured equipment documentation in QuickBase, which includes manuals, startup and shutdown procedures, troubleshooting guides, spare parts lists, PM procedures, utility requirements, technical records, and revision histories.
  • Ensure that equipment records are accurate, current, traceable, and organized to support troubleshooting, maintenance execution, training, and audit readiness.
  • Establish and uphold documentation standards that encompass equipment setup, operational expectations, maintenance requirements, known issues, and lessons learned across both new and existing equipment.
  • Develop preventive maintenance procedures, schedules, frequencies, and equipment-specific maintenance strategies that promote reliability and maintainability.
  • Contribute to the development of a spare parts strategy by identifying critical spares, wear items, recommended stocking levels, and replacement needs for assigned equipment.
