Job Overview:
We are on the lookout for a highly qualified and experienced Captain to spearhead the operations of our mid-sized autonomous surface vessel, Marauder. In this vital role, you will ensure the safe and proficient navigation of the vessel across diverse maritime settings while conducting mission tests and supporting pioneering autonomous systems operations.
Your duties will include overseeing the onboard crew, monitoring vessel performance, managing operational systems, and working closely with onshore teams to meet mission objectives. You will be instrumental in the planning and execution of autonomous vessel operations, significantly contributing to both testing and development efforts.
The ideal candidate will have a robust background in maritime operations, outstanding problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and a proven ability to lead effectively. A strong dedication to safety and compliance with maritime regulations is crucial to maintain the highest operational standards.
Vessel Operations Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safe navigation and operation of the vessel at all times, including during autonomous control.
- Manage and supervise the onboard crew to cultivate a high-performance team environment.
- Collaborate with shoreside personnel and onboard crew to guarantee successful autonomous system testing and adherence to mission plans.
- Assist in planning and executing vessel missions designed to develop and enhance autonomous operating systems.
- Lead all safety and emergency response protocols to ensure a secure onboard environment.
- Maintain detailed logs of vessel operations for transparency and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with applicable USCG, SOLAS, IMO, and Class regulations to uphold the highest maritime safety and operational standards.
External Coordination & Maritime Compliance:
- Coordinate efforts with external stakeholders to ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
