Overview of the Role
Each project will present unique challenges, and contributors may be tasked with:
- Creating original materials that simulate authentic engineering problems;
- Designing challenges that involve Python programming for engineering calculations and simulations;
- Ensuring that problems are computationally intensive and utilize numerical methods or iterative solutions;
- Developing scenarios involving system design, optimization, and analysis;
- Formulating problems based on real-world engineering challenges or practical applications;
- Verifying solutions utilizing Python alongside standard engineering libraries;
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing accurate solutions.
What We Are Seeking
This opportunity is ideal for material scientists and engineers with Python experience who are interested in part-time, non-permanent projects. Preferred qualifications include:
- A degree in Material Science or a related field;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation, with familiarity in MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or other domain-specific libraries seen as equivalent;
- At least 2 years of professional experience, whether applied, research, or teaching;
- A solid understanding of practical engineering constraints and approximations;
- Strong command of written English (C1+ level).
How the Process Works
Interested candidates will apply, pass the required qualifications, join a project, complete assigned tasks, and receive payment.
Project Commitment
During active phases, tasks are estimated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week based on project needs. This is an estimate and does not guarantee a specific workload.
Compensation
Contributors can earn up to $76 per hour, depending on their input and contribution pace. Compensation varies across projects based on scope, complexity, and expertise required. Please note that earnings may differ for other projects on this platform.
