Opportunity Overview
Each project presents unique challenges, and contributors may engage in the following tasks:
- Designing innovative material engineering problems that replicate authentic engineering workflows;
- Formulating problems necessitating Python programming for engineering calculations and simulations;
- Creating computationally intensive problems that demand numerical methods or iterative solutions;
- Developing problems related to system design, optimization, and analysis;
- Grounding problems in genuine research challenges or practical engineering applications;
- Validating solutions using Python alongside standard engineering libraries;
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified correct solutions.
Qualifications We Seek
This role is ideal for material scientists and engineers with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent projects. Preferred qualifications include:
- A degree in Material Science or a related discipline;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation; familiarity with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, domain-specific libraries, Stata, or any programming language is also acceptable;
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience, including applied, research, or teaching roles;
- A solid understanding of practical engineering constraints and approximations;
- Strong command of written English (C1 level or higher).

Project Time Commitment
Tasks for this project are estimated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week during active phases, depending on project needs. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload.
Compensation Details
Contributors can earn up to $76 per hour, varying based on experience and contribution pace. Note that compensation may differ across projects based on their specific requirements.
