RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborate with engineering to establish advanced silicon wafer fabrication development lines, encompassing wafer slicing, grinding, cleaning, degumming, and inspection stations. Lead equipment commissioning, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance efforts. Execute hands-on wafer processing tasks including ingot cropping, slicing, cleaning, degumming, and surface conditioning to produce low-defect, high-reliability wafers. Conduct Design of Experiments (DOEs) to optimize silicon recycling processes and reduce contamination of raw materials. Evaluate supplier materials such as slurries, wires, adhesives, and wet process chemicals through contamination analysis and performance assessments. Carry out silicon wafer characterization and ensure proper maintenance and calibration of associated lab equipment. Safely handle chemicals while adhering to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Maintain 5S standards and cleanroom protocols by keeping a clean and organized workspace. Assist in training production silicon wafer fabrication technicians as required. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent certification.3+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor wafer manufacturing, cleanroom operations, or high-tech production (such as photovoltaics or silicon processing).1+ years of experience safely handling flammable, toxic, corrosive, and/or hazardous chemicals.

Join our team as a Materials R&D Technician in Silicon Wafer Engineering for Starlink, where you will collaborate closely with engineering teams to establish state-of-the-art silicon wafer fabrication R&D lines. Your efforts will contribute to the production of high-quality wafers that are crucial for the solar cell fabrication of our cutting-edge Starlink satellites and upcoming Starship missions to the Moon and Mars. In this role, you will oversee the commissioning of silicon wafer fabrication equipment, engage in process development, monitor and troubleshoot equipment, characterize wafer quality, and ensure smooth transitions to production teams.
