As a Mechanical & Dynamics Engineer at Loft Orbital, you will serve as the in-house authority on structural analysis and testing for our Orbitworks program. Your primary focus will be conducting spacecraft-level analyses to ensure that the stress margins of fasteners and components in primary structures meet the stringent requirements of our launch environment. You will also be tasked with identifying justified notch requests using force-limited methodologies, with a strong emphasis on correlating models to test results.
In addition to your structural analysis duties, you will take on a broader role as a Mechanical Engineer at the satellite level. This includes conducting mechanical trade studies, selecting vendors, designing mechanical layouts, and developing interface designs, drawings, and assembly/testing procedures.
Your expertise will extend to reviewing mechanical analysis and test results from our suppliers and customer payloads, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Ideally, the successful candidate will possess a solid foundation in satellite thermal design principles and will be capable of performing thermal analysis on our satellites, confirming that operational temperatures remain within acceptable limits, potentially through training.
