About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer in Product Design will play a pivotal role in integrating sophisticated sensing and computing systems into compact, aesthetically pleasing wearable devices. This position demands a high level of mechanical engineering expertise, as you will be responsible for driving all aspects of development, including system architecture, mechanical design, thermal management, component selection, prototyping, and testing.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the design of wearable electronics, exceptional prototyping skills, and a keen understanding of materials and fabrication processes. A solid grasp of image sensor and battery integration is essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across various engineering domains. Our dynamic startup environment requires team members to be adaptable, communicative, decisive, and capable of delivering results with minimal oversight.
Your initial responsibilities will include owning the mechanical design and architecture for all wearable hardware projects, establishing partnerships with design and fabrication partners, defining the mechanical engineering tool workflow, and leading exploratory efforts to tackle integration challenges.
Responsibilities:
Design, simulate, prototype, and deliver mechanical systems and components for wearable technology.
Create detailed models, drawings, simulations, and specifications to assist internal and external partners in the mechanical component design and manufacturing process.
Serve as the mechanical subject matter expert, facilitating efficient collaboration with Electrical, Firmware, Industrial Design, and soft goods teams to resolve complex integration challenges.
Act as the primary contact for identifying and evaluating materials and fabrication partners.
Travel as necessary for product development and prototyping activities.
