About the job
Anduril Industries is a pioneering defense technology firm dedicated to enhancing military capabilities for the U. S. and its allies through cutting-edge technology. By integrating the innovative expertise and business models of the 21st century into the defense sector, Anduril is revolutionizing the design, manufacture, and sale of military systems. Our advanced systems are powered by Lattice OS, an AI-driven operating system that synthesizes vast data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control platform. As global strategic competition intensifies, Anduril is committed to delivering state-of-the-art autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in rapid timeframes.
ABOUT THE TEAM
We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our Propulsion Development team at our Santa Ana facility. This team is responsible for the design, development, and qualification of engines that power Anduril's fleet of autonomous air vehicles. We take engines from initial concept through prototyping, testing, and production in timeframes measured in months. Our work lies at the intersection of high-performance rotating machinery, advanced manufacturing, and swift flight testing, delivering propulsion systems that are redefining the possibilities for defense applications.
You will engage in engine development within a lean, high-ownership culture, directly influencing product outcomes and enabling the testing and operation of new hardware within months.
ABOUT THE JOB
Your role will involve core propulsion hardware development, including engine components, assemblies, and propulsion subsystems. This position requires a strong sense of ownership and collaboration with various disciplines within the Propulsion team and across our broader vehicle programs. Ideal candidates are practical, hands-on, and self-motivated.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead mechanical design and development of propulsion components and assemblies from conceptualization to low-rate production.
- Drive technical efforts to outline requirements, propose viable solutions, and establish methodologies for evaluating and validating mechanical systems.
- Collaborate closely with other disciplines to ensure a cohesive, reliable, and cost-effective integration of electrical, software, and mechanical systems.
- Facilitate design reviews, conduct analyses, engage with vendors, and execute hardware test plans.
- Contribute to the improvement of team tools, templates, processes, and standards.
- Manage operational requirements across engine subsystems.
