Team Overview:
The Convoy team is a dedicated unit within our Robotics Mechanical Engineering department, focused on developing an unprecedented brain-controlled assistive robotic arm (ARA). Our aim is to harness advanced neural control for hardware, particularly in robotic arms and hands. Our team collaborates closely with clinical trial participants and engages with cross-functional experts in hardware, software, electrical, and BCI engineering. We are committed to restoring physical independence to users with unmet medical needs through our groundbreaking work.
Position Summary and Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical & Robotics Engineer at Neuralink, you will be tasked with designing and producing innovative hardware solutions for our assistive robotic arm. Your role may also extend to working on brain-computer interface devices, surgical robotics, automation, microfabrication, and beyond. You will take ownership of projects from initial concept through to production, utilizing your mechanical engineering expertise in the demanding fields of brain interfaces and human-robot interaction. Your key responsibilities include:
- Designing and integrating mechanical and electrical components of robotic systems with a strong emphasis on usability and safety.
- Working collaboratively with clinical trial participants, neuroscientists, biologists, and engineers to define design criteria.
- Rapidly and effectively constructing systems to achieve project objectives.
- Employing analytical techniques, including calculations and simulations, to optimize structural and mechanical designs.
- Leading all phases of device launch, from prototyping to manufacturing release.
