While nuclear experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Candidates with backgrounds in highly regulated engineering environments will find their skills and approach to be highly transferable and appealing to us. Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field. Familiarity with corrosion modeling standards, including ISO 9223 or BS 9295.Experience supporting engineering activities in complex construction settings. Proficiency in producing engineering reports, technical documentation, and assessments. Experience in materials testing, characterization, or coating system evaluation. Awareness of sustainable material selection principles in engineering projects. Adeptness in reviewing complex coating documentation and specifications.

Join us as a Mechanical Engineer specializing in materials, corrosion, and coatings in a hybrid role based in Bridgwater (3 days in the office). We welcome candidates who are within commuting distance or those willing to relocate, with support available for the transition. This critical position is part of a major nuclear construction program where you will collaborate closely with construction teams, engineering experts, and supplier organizations to tackle technical challenges and uphold configuration control.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Addressing complex technical issues related to materials, coatings, and corrosion engineering on-site.
  • Reviewing corrosion modeling, coating specifications, and material selection processes.
  • Preparing detailed technical assessments, engineering documentation, and justification reports.
  • Collaborating with construction teams to resolve interdisciplinary technical queries.
  • Reviewing supplier documentation and facilitating the resolution of technical comments.
  • Leading technical meetings with suppliers and internal engineering stakeholders.
  • Providing oversight on contract engineering, ensuring scope, cost, and schedule compliance.
  • Managing design risks, early warnings, and contract variation assessments.
  • Coordinating interfaces between suppliers, client teams, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Supporting configuration management activities, including design changes and contract updates.
