About the job

About Atomic Semi

Atomic Semi is at the forefront of advancing semiconductor manufacturing with a focus on building a compact, agile fabrication facility.

Leveraging current technology and innovative simplifications, we are determined to create our own tools for rapid iteration and enhancement.

Our exceptional team comprises a diverse array of engineers specializing in mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process engineering. Together, we are committed to owning the entire stack from atomic structures to architectural designs. We thrive on optimism and are eager to push the boundaries of technological innovation.

We believe in the motto: smaller is better, faster is better, and building it ourselves is better.

Our lab is equipped with advanced 3D printers, an extensive selection of microscopes, e-beam writers, and general fabrication tools. If we identify any gaps, we will invent the necessary solutions.

Founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller, Atomic Semi is driven by a passion for innovation. Sam gained recognition for his garage-built chips, while Jim boasts over 40 years of leadership in the semiconductor sector.

About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Interns for the upcoming fall term, commencing in September. The internship requires a commitment of 4 to 8 months. As we reconstruct the chip fabrication process from the ground up, you will engage in significant and meaningful projects. Our engineering endeavors span multiple disciplines including structures, optics, robotics, heat transfer, physics, and chemistry. As a startup, we provide interns with substantial ownership and critical missions.

The ideal candidate will have practical experience in at least one of these domains and broad exposure to others. Our philosophy emphasizes rapid prototyping and testing—projects should be built and evaluated in days or weeks, not months. To apply, a portfolio showcasing your completed projects is required. If you have successfully delivered a medium-to-high complexity system through personal projects or prior internships, you would be an excellent fit for our team.

About Atomic Semi

Atomic Semi is revolutionizing semiconductor fabrication with a commitment to innovation and hands-on engineering. We are a small, energetic team dedicated to creating cutting-edge technology and pushing the limits of what's possible in semiconductor manufacturing.
