Internship Overview
The Mechanical Engineering Internship for Fall 2026 is a twelve-week, hourly position designed for students enrolled in a four-year university program. Interns join the engineering team to work on substantial, hands-on projects that impact Astranis satellites directly. Many past interns have contributed to hardware and software for the company’s first satellite, with several moving on to full-time roles at Astranis. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply for Associate Engineer positions instead.
What You Will Do
- Work closely with engineers to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software.
- Design, evaluate, procure, assemble, and test structures, mechanisms, and bracketry for spacecraft, using a variety of manufacturing methods for both composite and metallic parts.
- Perform mechanical and thermal analyses on spacecraft systems.
- Integrate components and systems into spacecraft, collaborate on documentation, and help improve build processes for future projects.
