Proficient in mechanical instrumentation, including strain gauges, accelerometers, and data acquisition systems. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and basic FEA tools for stress and modal analysis. Hands-on proficiency with test setups, mechanical assembly, and fabrication tools. Ability to work comfortably in laboratory, dockside, or field environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset.

Job Overview

In the role of Mechanical Test Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, executing, and analyzing mechanical and structural testing for components and complete systems of our autonomous surface vessels. Your expertise will be pivotal in validating designs, enhancing reliability, and ensuring compliance with performance and environmental standards essential for military operations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute comprehensive mechanical, structural, and environmental tests on ASV components and complete systems (including vibration, shock, thermal, and fatigue tests).

  • Develop detailed test procedures, fixtures, instrumentation setups, and data acquisition systems.

  • Thoroughly analyze test results to uncover design vulnerabilities, material constraints, or integration challenges.

  • Work collaboratively with design, electrical, and software teams to ensure feedback is effectively integrated and iterations occur swiftly.

  • Support field testing initiatives, including at-sea trials and system deployments.

  • Document test plans, reports, and technical findings for internal review and compliance with DoD regulations.

  • Assist in root-cause analysis and troubleshooting throughout development and production phases.
