Key ResponsibilitiesAdhere to all Health and Safety (H&S) regulations and operational procedures. Execute scheduled maintenance on electro-mechanical equipment using approved diagnostic methods. Conduct fault-finding and implement corrective repairs to promptly restore equipment to service. Prepare equipment for service through comprehensive inspections, testing, and configuration. Shunt locomotives and wagons, perform pre-departure checks, and operate works train equipment within designated areas. Document maintenance activities and performance metrics according to established procedures. Utilize and enhance your skills in computerized maintenance and administrative systems. Achieve necessary qualifications for operating relevant equipment, including locomotives, MEWPs, PSV vehicles, and forklifts. Qualifications and ExperienceEssentialHND/HNC (or equivalent) in mechanical, automotive, or plant engineering, or Level 3 NVQ/BTEC alongside relevant experience in a similar technical environment. Proven experience in a mechanical or electrical maintenance setting. Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and the ability to interpret technical schematics. Extensive experience in motor vehicle maintenance, including light commercial and PSV vehicles, with a strong emphasis on diagnostics. A full driving license (manual and automatic) is required. A valid Passport is mandatory for this position. DesirableExperience within the rail industry. Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.

Join our dynamic team as a Mechanical Works Train Technician at Getlink, where you will be responsible for performing both preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance on an extensive array of works train and rail plant equipment. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining locomotives, hybrid on-track machines, wagons, MEWPs, Hiabs, and service vehicles.
This role encompasses fault-finding, preparing equipment for service, shunting and operating locomotives within worksites, and ensuring assets are returned to service in a safe and efficient manner.
