A passion for space exploration and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are highly valued.

About the job

The aerospace industry faces an unprecedented demand for innovative spacecraft solutions. With the advent of new launch vehicles and decreasing costs of access to orbit, a plethora of companies are emerging to deliver payloads into space.

Now more than ever, the commercial sector requires advanced spacecraft platforms, often referred to as satellite buses. These vital structures house customer payloads and are deployed via various launch vehicles.

At Apex Technology Inc., we manufacture these satellite buses at scale, leveraging cutting-edge software, integrated manufacturing processes, and hardware designed for optimal production efficiency. Our spacecraft play a crucial role in advancing human capabilities, from earth observation to communications and beyond.

We invite you to join our mission to expand humanity's reach into the cosmos.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Spacecraft GNC Engineer to become part of our dynamic team. You will lead the design of the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) system, encompassing both hardware and software elements to address the positional, attitude, stability, and knowledge requirements of our satellite buses. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design from the ground up and influence design trades across the vehicle architecture. Your innovative mindset will be pivotal in pushing the boundaries of design and performance, making a significant impact in the aerospace industry. This position reports directly to the Director of Spacecraft.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement GNC algorithms for satellite systems, including attitude and orbit determination and control, as well as precision pointing.

  • Conduct spacecraft dynamics analysis and perform simulations to assess system performance, stability, and accuracy.

  • Design, develop, and test spacecraft control systems, including reaction wheels, thrusters, and magnetic torquers, to fulfill mission objectives.

  • Collaborate with spacecraft and payload engineers to establish system requirements and ensure GNC system compatibility and integration.

  • Perform trade studies and recommend optimal GNC configurations, considering power consumption, mass, and cost.

  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures for GNC systems, including system-level testing, performance evaluation, and anomaly resolution.

  • Analyze and interpret spacecraft telemetry data to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
