meanpug is looking for a Mid to Senior Web Developer with 3–5+ years of experience. This fully remote role focuses on building, improving, and maintaining high-performance marketing websites for law firm clients across the United States. The position involves close collaboration with design, SEO, and strategy teams to deliver visually appealing sites that load quickly and convert well.
What You Will Do
- Develop and manage WordPress sites, including custom themes and page builder integrations (Elementor, WP Bakery), handling content updates and troubleshooting.
- Translate design specs into responsive layouts and interactive features, ensuring compatibility across browsers and devices.
- Work with headless WordPress setups, connecting WordPress as a CMS to separate front-end frameworks.
- Support the migration to a modern static-site front end, with Astro as the primary framework (experience with Next.js, Nuxt, or similar tools is a plus).
- Optimize site performance and Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP), including caching and image optimization.
- Build landing pages and run experiments for paid marketing campaigns.
- Assist with integrations such as forms/CRM, call tracking, analytics, and pixel/tag management.
- Implement technical SEO elements, including schema, redirects, sitemaps, indexing, and internal linking.
- Troubleshoot issues related to plugins, theme conflicts, hosting, DNS, and SSL across environments.
- Contribute to a collaborative workflow using ticketing systems, code reviews, QA checklists, and documentation.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional web development experience.
- Strong WordPress skills, including custom themes, components, and troubleshooting.
- Direct experience with headless WordPress (decoupled CMS and front-end framework).
- Hands-on work with Astro or a similar static/SSR framework (Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, etc.).
- Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with the ability to implement modern responsive designs.
- Familiarity with performance optimization, accessibility basics, and debugging in production.
- Availability during 9am–6pm EST working hours.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using React for front-end components or microsites.
- Knowledge of Python and a web framework (Django, Flask) for small services or automation.
- Advanced technical SEO skills, including structured data and log-based analysis.
- Experience with hosting and operations (WP Engine, Kinsta, Cloudflare, VPS setups).
- Proficiency in analytics instrumentation (GTM, GA4 events, conversion APIs, call tracking).
- Background in developing reusable WordPress blocks/components (Gutenberg) or custom plugins.
