We are on the lookout for a Software Development Manager to join our dynamic Mobile Engineering team based in Wellington. In this pivotal position, you will oversee the engagement and performance of our engineering team, fostering resilience and nurturing a high-performance culture. You will lead by example, empowering your team to achieve their best work. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in technical delivery and the capability to offer expert technical guidance that influences other teams and the organization as a whole.
Important: This position is located in Wellington; therefore, we welcome candidates who are open to relocation rather than remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor a team of high-achieving developers while supporting their career growth through continuous feedback, coaching, quarterly evaluations, structured development plans, and collaborative sessions.
- Facilitate your team in delivering high-quality code within a trusting environment, ensuring a smooth delivery cadence and strong collaboration with stakeholders through demos, retrospectives, and blameless incident reviews.
- Assess the performance of our mobile application's technical architecture and embrace industry trends to enhance our offerings.
- Work closely with your team to manage development initiatives, provide answers to queries, and approve work outputs.
- Report to the Director of Software Development and engage frequently with Product Managers, Product Designers, Product Marketing Managers, and Support Specialists.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Lead by example and engage in hands-on coding using Java, Golang, or Kotlin.
- Contribute to broader team goals to achieve organizational objectives, even when it involves tasks outside your defined role.
