About Cool Earth
Cool Earth is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting rainforests by supporting the communities that live there. With over 15 years of experience, we collaborate closely with indigenous peoples and local communities in the world's largest and most vital rainforests, including the Amazon, the Congo Basin, and Papua New Guinea.
Our mission is to empower indigenous peoples living in the most threatened rainforests by providing flexible, direct funding, data tools, and collaborative support for locally-led initiatives aimed at enhancing their autonomy and conserving their territories, which are crucial for combating the climate crisis.
At Cool Earth, we work hand-in-hand with allied communities in the Amazon, based on trust, respect, and mutual collaboration. Our diverse and adaptable team values shared leadership and inclusivity. We seek individuals who are community-oriented, deeply committed to their territories, and eager to co-create solutions with local communities.
About the Position
The Unconditional Cash Transfers program has been operational in Peru for over 15 years. Its primary goal is to address the basic and urgent needs of native communities and indigenous peoples living in forests impacted by the climate crisis. By providing flexible and direct monetary resources, and supporting local leadership, we aim to enhance their autonomy and conserve their territories, which are vital in mitigating the climate crisis.
The program consists of two types of projects: bridge financing, which involves community-level cash transfers, and basic income, which includes individual cash transfers, implemented in nine indigenous communities across two regions of the country.
The Program Manager for Unconditional Cash Transfers (UCCT) will be the primary responsible person, under the supervision of the Director of Peru, for leading the design, review, and implementation of the UCCT program in Peru. This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team, coordinating with various stakeholders, especially indigenous organizations, managing planning and budgeting, and ensuring the tracking of learnings and risks to improve interventions and support their effectiveness.
