Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES:Define layer stackup, select component packages, assess component placement, conduct routing feasibility studies, and manage signal routing for digital, analog, RF, and power conversion PCBs. Develop and maintain PCB libraries. Produce and release comprehensive documentation for PCB fabrication. Engage with internal teams and PCB fabricators to enhance design standards and improve manufacturability and testability. Utilize PCB design tools effectively, assess new tool options, and mentor team members in tool usage. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (3+ years in PCB layout may substitute for a degree). Minimum of 1 year of professional PCB layout experience. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:2+ years of experience in PCB layout and routing, focusing on modern passive and active electronic components, surface mount technology, RF components, and high pin density devices.1+ years of experience managing ECAD libraries and their configurations. Strong understanding of design for manufacturability, assembly, and testing. Familiarity with Mentor Xpedition or similar PCB design tools.

PCB DESIGNER - STARSHIELD
The Starshield program harnesses SpaceX’s cutting-edge Starlink technology and launch capabilities to bolster national security. Unlike Starlink, which primarily serves consumer and commercial needs, Starshield is tailored for government applications, focusing on earth observation, secure communications, and hosted payloads.
As a PCB Designer at SpaceX, you will play a critical role in crafting the layouts for our innovative in-house board designs for the Starshield initiative. This position requires close collaboration with Hardware Development Engineers during the schematic development process, where your expertise will guide design reviews and iterations to achieve optimal solutions. Your designs will encompass a diverse range of applications, including radio phased arrays, solar power converters, and more.
