About the Role
As a Performance & Systems Engineer within the Codex team, you will play a crucial role in optimizing our complex, evolving system architecture. Your responsibilities will encompass the full spectrum of Codex, which includes LLM inference, cloud orchestration, agentic task management, and diverse product interfaces. Your mission will be to pinpoint and implement significant improvements across infrastructure, modeling, and product layers, aiming to make Codex agents faster and more cost-effective for deployment.
We seek adaptable professionals who excel in navigating uncertainty and enjoy resolving performance bottlenecks. This is a high-responsibility position where your contributions will directly enhance the user experiences of millions.
This position is based in San Francisco, CA, embracing a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week. We also provide relocation assistance for new hires.
In this role, you will:
Identify and resolve inefficiencies throughout the Codex system stack, from agent behavior and LLM inference to container orchestration.
Develop tools to assess, profile, and enhance system performance on a large scale.
Collaborate with researchers and engineers to implement high-return changes that reduce latency and costs.
