About the Role

The Platform Database Engineer plays a crucial role in the architecture, deployment, and management of MongoDB environments, whether in the cloud or on-premise. This position requires a unique blend of advanced database engineering skills and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to ensure that our data platforms are high-performing, reliable, scalable, and automated.

What You Will Do

Design, implement, and maintain MongoDB Atlas and non-Atlas environments with a focus on high availability, scalability, and security.
Establish and enforce resiliency and disaster recovery plans, covering backup, restoration, and multi-region failover strategies.
Enhance database performance and optimize query execution to assist application development teams across all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Create and oversee infrastructure-as-code solutions (using Terraform, GitOps) for database provisioning and automation.
Implement and continuously improve observability and monitoring solutions utilizing tools like Dynatrace, CloudWatch, and MongoDB native telemetry.
Administer access control, auditing, and encryption measures to comply with enterprise security and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with application, DevOps, and platform teams to drive improvements in reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
Lead incident response efforts for database issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Mentor and guide technical teams, contributing to documentation, standards, and design reviews.
