About the job

About Hark

At Hark, we are pioneering the future of artificial intelligence by creating advanced and personalized intelligent systems. Our vision is to build an AI that is proactive, multimodal, and capable of engaging with its environment through speech, text, vision, and a persistent memory.

We are integrating this intelligence with cutting-edge hardware to establish a universal interface that bridges the gap between humans and machines. Unlike traditional AI systems that rely on outdated devices and chat interfaces, Hark is focused on developing agentic systems that interact naturally with users and the real world.

To achieve this, we are innovating multimodal models and next-generation AI hardware, designed from the ground up as a cohesive interface for a new era of intelligent systems.

About the Role

As a Platform Engineer at Hark, you will play a pivotal role in developing the platform that powers our AI agents. This includes creating the runtime, infrastructure, and foundational elements that ensure our intelligent systems operate effectively in real-world environments.

Your responsibilities will include addressing complex systems challenges such as low-latency streaming, reliable tool execution, memory management at scale, and orchestration logic that withstands real-world usage. You will be building the essential groundwork that supports all other functionalities.

This is a highly autonomous role within a small team, where you will collaborate directly with model developers and product teams. The systems you engineer will shape the possibilities for both AI development and product delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the core runtime for Hark's agent platform, focusing on orchestration, tool execution, memory retrieval, and streaming systems.
  • Manage features from inception to production, collaborating with researchers and iterating based on user feedback.
  • Design platform primitives that will be leveraged by the product team, including agent runtimes, execution sandboxes, memory APIs, and streaming pipelines.
  • Conduct product evaluations, track quality regressions, and provide feedback to improve the model and product cycle.
  • Engage with various tech stacks as needed to resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of systems engineering principles. You should be adept at designing APIs, building reliable infrastructure, and analyzing performance, concurrency, and failure modes.
  • Proven experience in developing production systems that users rely on, recognizing the difference between demo functionality and scalable solutions.
  • A genuine interest in AI and agent technologies. Familiarity with LLMs and related frameworks is a plus.

About Hark

Hark is at the forefront of artificial intelligence innovation, dedicated to creating advanced, personalized intelligent systems that interact with users in various modalities. Our mission is to redefine human-machine interaction by developing proactive and multimodal AI that operates seamlessly across different interfaces.
