Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. An advanced degree is preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as a Database Performance Engineer or in a similar role. Strong expertise in PostgreSQL database management systems and proficiency in SQL. Basic knowledge of GraphDB, Kubernetes, and Linux is a plus.

We are looking for a talented and experienced Database Engineer to become a vital part of our innovative team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our database systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical leadership, and implement best practices to boost our database infrastructure's efficiency.

This is a hybrid position based in our New York office, requiring in-office work at least two days a week. Our hybrid model fosters collaboration and enhances team connectivity.

Key Responsibilities of Database Engineers at Collibra:

  • Performance Optimization: Analyze and enhance database performance through monitoring, tuning, and query optimization, ensuring quick response times and efficient resource utilization. Collaborate with engineering teams for effective problem-solving.
  • Right Sizing: Conduct capacity planning and forecasting to foresee future database needs and ensure scalability. Automate sizing processes to accommodate growth.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve complex database issues, including performance bottlenecks and data inconsistencies. Utilize observability data to identify trends and potential problems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to understand application requirements and provide insight on database-related matters.
  • Automation: Implement automation solutions for repetitive tasks and performance monitoring, streamlining processes and improving efficiency. Maintain automated solutions for continuous workload analysis at scale, enabling proactive issue identification.
  • Best Practices & Documentation: Develop best practices for database architecture, configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
