Professional Accreditation – Be professionally qualified or actively working towards accreditation with a relevant body (such as ICE, CIWEM, etc.). Technical Proficiency – Experience in the water/wastewater sector, leading project teams and managing design scope. Experience with multi-disciplinary non-infrastructure projects is preferred.

Join our vibrant and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal Civil Engineer in our rapidly expanding Perth office, while also benefiting from our flexible hybrid working model.

AECOM has recently been designated as one of the two Primary Designers for Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise, a transformative, multi-billion-pound initiative that represents the highest value project ever undertaken by Scottish Water. This project will redefine Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033, with a potential extension for an additional six years.

Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

  1. Project Leadership
    • Guide project teams to deliver outstanding results that align with client expectations.
    • Oversee design scope to ensure projects stay within budget and timeline constraints.
  2. Technical Expertise
    • Exhibit strong technical knowledge and stay updated on current industry practices and innovations.
    • Lead the quality assurance process for project deliverables, ensuring adherence to standards and client specifications.
  3. Team Development
    • Take a leading role in the development and management of design teams in the Perth office, while collaborating with colleagues across the UK and Ireland.
    • Mentor junior staff, offering guidance and support to help them achieve their full potential.
    • Promote a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth.
  4. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as an effective communicator, engaging with multiple project stakeholders, including clients, team members, and external partners.
  5. Health & Safety Leadership
    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current health and safety regulations.
    • Integrate a safety-first culture into all aspects of project execution.
