Key ResponsibilitiesData Analytics Development & Upstream Data Integrity (~50%)Design and create data analytics tools, automated validation frameworks, and dashboards that provide Finance Operations and Controllership with real-time insights into data health across enterprise systems. Harness AI for rapid prototyping, testing, and deployment of these solutions. Champion upstream data hygiene collaboratively: work with source-system owners in Revenue Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Engineering to address data issues at their origin. Manage data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and quality scorecards for essential controllership data assets, establishing and enforcing master data management (MDM) standards. Collaborate with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and IT on integration strategies to ensure seamless data management.

Role overview

The Principal Data Scientist position is based in Atlanta, Georgia and reports to the Office of the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). This is a hands-on role for a data expert with a strong background in finance and accounting. The focus is on ensuring Axon's data is reliable, well-governed, and audit-ready, supporting key business decisions and compliance efforts.

What you will do

  • Build data analytics tools and data pipelines for major initiatives, such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A) integration, ERP implementations, upstream data remediation, and SOX compliance.
  • Apply AI techniques to accelerate development and improve project results.
  • Collaborate with teams across Controllership, Finance Operations, FP&A, Internal Audit, and Technology.
  • Help establish the strategic foundation for AI, automation, and audit readiness within Axon.
  • Use AI-powered development tools, including code generation, copilots, and large language models, as part of daily work.
