Key Responsibilities (50% Hands-On Building & Upstream Data Cleanliness)• Design and implement data analytics tools, automated validation frameworks, and dashboards that provide real-time insights into data health across enterprise systems. Utilize AI for rapid prototyping, testing, and deployment of solutions.• Enhance upstream data quality by collaborating with source-system owners across Revenue Operations, Procurement, HR, and Engineering to resolve data issues at their origin.• Manage data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and quality scorecards for crucial controllership data assets. Establish and uphold master data management (MDM) standards.• Collaborate with the CIO and IT on integration strategies to ensure seamless data flow.

Role overview

The Principal Data Scientist will join the Office of the Chief Accounting Officer in Sterling. This role requires deep expertise in finance and accounting, with a focus on delivering clean, reliable, and well-governed data. The work directly supports AI developers, process leaders, decision-makers, and auditors across Axon.

Main responsibilities

  • Design and build data analytics tools and pipelines for the CAO organization.
  • Apply AI to support large-scale projects, such as mergers and acquisitions, ERP system implementations, upstream data remediation, and SOX compliance.
  • Spend about half of working time on hands-on technical tool and pipeline creation.
  • Collaborate with Controllership, Finance Operations, FP&A, Internal Audit, and Technology teams to prepare for AI, automation, and audit initiatives.
  • Work daily with AI-assisted development tools, including code generation, copilots, and large language models.
