Role overview
The Principal Data Scientist will join the Office of the Chief Accounting Officer in Sterling. This role requires deep expertise in finance and accounting, with a focus on delivering clean, reliable, and well-governed data. The work directly supports AI developers, process leaders, decision-makers, and auditors across Axon.
Main responsibilities
- Design and build data analytics tools and pipelines for the CAO organization.
- Apply AI to support large-scale projects, such as mergers and acquisitions, ERP system implementations, upstream data remediation, and SOX compliance.
- Spend about half of working time on hands-on technical tool and pipeline creation.
- Collaborate with Controllership, Finance Operations, FP&A, Internal Audit, and Technology teams to prepare for AI, automation, and audit initiatives.
- Work daily with AI-assisted development tools, including code generation, copilots, and large language models.
