What You Will Be Doing:As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the core energy management systems that power Helion’s fusion generators. Your primary focus will be on high-power electrical systems, including energy delivery to pulsed magnetics, energy recovery systems, internal redistribution networks, and grid-tie infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include designing, commissioning, and optimizing systems essential for delivering clean, low-cost electricity globally. This position is based onsite and reports directly to the Senior Manager of Electrical Engineering at our Everett, WA office. Your Responsibilities Will Include:Design, test, troubleshoot, and support high-voltage power systems for pulsed magnetic coils. Oversee design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of systems delivering <1 ms pulses up to 5 MA and 40 kV. Develop system architectures and collaborate with designers on schematics and installation drawings. Lead design reviews to validate cost-effective, scalable, and reliable solutions. Support commissioning and lifetime operation of generator power systems while identifying optimization paths for future builds. Apply rigorous engineering practices, taking ownership of cost, schedule, and resource planning for assigned projects. Mentor electrical engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance technical capabilities throughout Helion.
