A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, specifically electrical or power engineering. Experience working on projects for transmission system operators such as National Grid, SSE, and SPT, adhering to their standards. Your Responsibilities:

As a Principal Overhead Line Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our Transmission & Distribution team, engaging with clients to deliver technically demanding overhead line design projects. Your primary focus will be providing technical support and overseeing the design of transmission projects, particularly overhead transmission lines up to 400kV.

  • Deliver technical support for complex overhead line designs on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Engage in major work programs such as GGP projects.
  • Assist in proposal writing, detailing project timelines, resources, budgets, objectives, and goals.
  • Provide ongoing technical support throughout project implementation, statutory planning, and public consultation events.
  • Lead design activities related to overhead lines, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structural analysis, design criteria formulation, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor specifications, clearance reports, and material selection.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop technical layouts and solutions for client presentations.
  • Originate and review engineering deliverables, including designs, reports, and drawing packages.
  • Perform internal quality checks of engineering drawings and calculations.
